Their situation deeply touched his heart and changed the direction of his life. Joseph realized that education could transform the lives of children and give them hope for the future. He believed that every child, regardless of social or economic background, deserved the opportunity to learn. More importantly, he wanted education to form not only the mind but also the heart, helping young people grow in faith, virtue, and love of God. He is traditionally identified with Nathanael, the disciple introduced to Jesus by Philip in the Gospel of John. When Philip told Nathanael that they had found the Messiah, Nathanael initially responded with skepticism: "Can anything good come from Nazareth?" Yet he did not allow his doubts to close his heart. When he encountered Jesus, his heart was transformed, and he made a profound profession of faith: "Rabbi, you are the Son of God; you are the King of Israel."
