The readings from Acts 1:12–14; Psalm 27; 1 Peter 4:13–16; and John 17:1–11 reveal a powerful message for every believer: in times of waiting, struggle, and uncertainty, we are called to remain united in prayer, strengthened by hope, and sustained by the presence of Christ.

In the Gospel of Gospel of John (17:1–11), Jesus offers a profound prayer to the Father before His Passion. Often called the “priestly prayer,” Jesus speaks not only for Himself but also for His disciples.

He prays that they may remain united and protected:

“Holy Father, keep them in your name… so that they may be one just as we are one.”

Even as Jesus prepares to leave the world, His concern is for those He loves. He entrusts them to the Father’s care, reminding us that we are never forgotten or abandoned by God.

This promise echoes beautifully in John 14:18:

“I will not leave you orphans.”

Christ’s physical departure does not mean absence. His love, protection, and presence remain with His people.

In Acts of the Apostles (1:12–14), we see the disciples living out this trust after the Ascension. They return to Jerusalem and gather together in prayer with Mary, mother of Jesus and the other believers.

They are waiting—not passively, but faithfully.

Though uncertain about what lies ahead, they remain united in hope and prayer as they await the coming of the Holy Spirit.

This teaches us something essential: prayer gives strength during seasons of waiting. Before mission comes communion with God.

The letter of First Epistle of Peter (4:13–16) reminds believers that suffering for Christ is not a cause for shame but an opportunity to share in His glory.

Peter encourages Christians to remain faithful even in hardship, trusting that God’s Spirit rests upon them.

Psalm 27 beautifully expresses this confidence:

“The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom should I fear?”

Even in uncertainty, the psalmist seeks only one thing—to dwell in God’s presence.

Reflection for Your Life

How do you respond during seasons of waiting or uncertainty?

Are you remaining rooted in prayer and unity with God?

Do you trust that Christ remains with you, even when you cannot see clearly ahead?

Faith in Action

Spend intentional time in prayer each day, especially during difficult moments

Seek unity and encouragement within your faith community

Trust God’s presence and remain faithful in times of challenge

Waiting with God is never wasted time.

Like the disciples, you may not fully see what lies ahead.

Like Peter, you may face difficulties because of your faith.

But Christ has not left you alone.

So today, remain steadfast in prayer, trust in His presence, and hold onto hope—

because the Lord is your light, your strength, and your faithful companion.
