Today's readings invite us to reflect on what we value most in life. In a world that encourages us to seek wealth, power, and success, God's Word reminds us that the greatest treasure is not something we possess but someone we know—Jesus Christ. Those who seek God's wisdom and His Kingdom discover a joy and peace that surpass every earthly possession.

In the first reading from First Book of Kings, the young King Solomon is given the opportunity to ask God for anything he desires. Instead of requesting riches, power, or a long life, Solomon asks for an understanding heart to govern God's people wisely. The Lord is pleased with his humble request and grants him wisdom beyond measure. Solomon teaches us that true greatness begins with seeking God's wisdom above all else.

The Psalm echoes this desire by proclaiming that God's law is more precious than gold and silver. The psalmist finds delight in God's commandments because they lead to truth, justice, and lasting happiness. When we treasure God's Word, it becomes a lamp that guides our decisions and strengthens us in times of uncertainty.

In the second reading, Epistle to the Romans assures us that "all things work together for good for those who love God." Even our trials, disappointments, and sufferings are woven into God's loving plan for our salvation. God has called us to become more like His Son, and He never abandons those who place their trust in Him.

In the Gospel, Jesus Christ presents three parables about the Kingdom of Heaven. The Kingdom is like a treasure hidden in a field, a pearl of great price, and a fishing net gathering fish of every kind.

The man who discovers the hidden treasure and the merchant who finds the priceless pearl both joyfully give up everything to possess what they have found. Jesus teaches that nothing compares to the value of living in God's Kingdom. Following Christ may require sacrifice, but whatever we surrender is insignificant compared with the eternal life and joy He offers.

The parable of the net reminds us that while God's invitation is open to everyone, there will come a time of judgment when each person will be accountable for how they have responded to His grace. This is a call to live faithfully each day, choosing Christ above all else.

The Lord asks each of us today: What is the greatest treasure in your life? If our hearts are attached only to temporary things, we will eventually be disappointed. But if we make Christ our greatest treasure, we will discover a joy that nothing in this world can take away.

Pray each day for God's wisdom before making important decisions.

Treasure God's Word by reading and reflecting on Scripture regularly.

Trust that God is working for your good, even during difficult moments.

Be willing to let go of anything that keeps you from following Christ wholeheartedly.

Make the Kingdom of God your highest priority, knowing it is worth every sacrifice.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank You for revealing the priceless treasure of Your Kingdom through Your Son, Jesus Christ. Grant me the wisdom of Solomon, that I may always seek Your will above earthly success and possessions. Help me to treasure Your Word, trust in Your loving plan, and courageously follow You with all my heart. May nothing separate me from Your love, and may my life always reflect the joy of belonging to Your Kingdom. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
