Guided into Truth: Proclaiming God in a Searching World

Readings
First Reading - Acts of the Apostles 17:15-22-18:1
Responsorial Psalm- Psalm 148:1-2. 11-14
Alleluia - John 14:16
Gospel Reading - John 16:12-15

The readings from Acts 17:15–22—18:1; Psalm 148; and John 16:12–15 reveal an important truth for every believer: God continues to guide His people through the Holy Spirit, calling us to proclaim His truth in a world that is searching for meaning.

In the Gospel of Gospel of John (16:12–15), Jesus tells His disciples:

“I have much more to tell you, but you cannot bear it now.”

The disciples are still growing in understanding, so Jesus promises them the Spirit of truth who will guide them fully:

“When He comes, the Spirit of truth, He will guide you to all truth.”

This reminds us that the Christian journey is one of continual growth. God reveals His wisdom gradually, leading us step by step. We do not need to know everything immediately—we only need to remain open to the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

The Spirit helps us understand God’s will, strengthens our faith, and keeps us rooted in Christ.

This guidance becomes visible in Acts of the Apostles (17:15–22—18:1), where Saint Paul the Apostle arrives in Athens, a city full of philosophy, ideas, and many objects of worship.

Paul notices an altar dedicated “To an Unknown God.” Instead of condemning the people immediately, he begins from where they are. He respectfully engages their search for truth and proclaims the God they do not yet know—the Creator of heaven and earth who gives life to all.

Paul’s approach teaches us something valuable: evangelization begins with understanding, dialogue, and connection. He speaks truth boldly, but also wisely and thoughtfully.

Some reject his message, others are curious, and a few believe. This reminds us that not everyone will respond the same way to the Gospel, but we are still called to witness faithfully.

Psalm 148 beautifully echoes the universal call to praise God:

“Praise the Lord from the heavens… kings of the earth and all peoples.”

All creation is invited to recognize and glorify the Creator.

Reflection for Your Life

Are you allowing the Holy Spirit to guide you deeper into truth?

How do you respond to a world that is searching for meaning and direction?

Do you witness to your faith with wisdom, patience, and understanding?

Faith in Action

Pray daily for the guidance of the Holy Spirit

Engage others with respect and love when sharing your faith

Continue learning and growing in your understanding of God

God is still guiding His people into truth.

And in a world filled with confusion and searching, He calls you to be a witness to His light.

So today, listen to the Spirit, speak with wisdom, and trust God’s guidance—

because the Spirit of truth will lead you and work through you
