Growing in Faith: Proclaiming Christ with Wisdom and Confidence
First Reading - Acts of the Apostles 18:23-28
Responsorial Psalm- Psalm 47:2-3.8-9.10
Alleluia - John 16:28
Gospel Reading - John 16:23-28
The readings from Acts 18:23–28; Psalm 47; and John 16:23–28 remind us that faith is a journey of continual growth, deeper understanding, and confident trust in God’s love and presence.
In the Gospel of Gospel of John (16:23–28), Jesus speaks words of reassurance and hope to His disciples:
“Whatever you ask the Father in my name, He will give you.”
Jesus invites His followers into a close relationship with the Father—a relationship built on trust, prayer, and love. He reminds them that the Father Himself loves them because they have believed in Him.
Then Jesus summarizes His mission beautifully:
“I came from the Father and have come into the world. Now I am leaving the world and going back to the Father.”
These words reveal Christ’s divine origin and His loving purpose. Jesus came to bring humanity back into communion with God.
This passage encourages us to pray with confidence and to trust that we are deeply loved by the Father.
In Acts of the Apostles (18:23–28), we meet Apollos, an eloquent and knowledgeable preacher who teaches about Jesus with great enthusiasm.
Yet Apollos still has more to learn.
When Priscilla and Aquila hear him, they gently explain the way of God more accurately. Instead of becoming defensive, Apollos humbly accepts their guidance and continues to grow in faith and effectiveness.
This is a beautiful example of Christian maturity. Faith grows when humility and teachability remain alive in us.
Later, strengthened by this deeper understanding, Apollos becomes a powerful witness for Christ, helping many believers.
Psalm 47 joyfully proclaims:
“God is king over the nations.”
This reminds us that the Gospel is for all people and that God’s truth continues to spread throughout the world.
Reflection for Your Life
Are you open to growing deeper in your faith and understanding?
Do you approach prayer with confidence and trust in God’s love?
Are you humble enough to receive guidance and correction when needed?
Faith in Action
Spend time deepening your understanding of Scripture and faith
Pray confidently, trusting that God hears and loves you
Encourage others gently and humbly in their spiritual journey
Faith is not about knowing everything perfectly—it is about remaining open to God’s guidance.
Like Apollos, we are all continually learning.
Like the disciples, we are invited to trust the Father more deeply.
So today, pray with confidence, grow with humility, and proclaim Christ boldly—
because God continues to guide and strengthen those who seek Him.
