Remaining in the Truth in a World of Many Voices.

First Reading - 1 John 2:18–21
Responsorial Psalm - Psalm 96:1–2. 11–13
Alleluia - John 1; 14a. 12ac
 Gospel Reading - John 1:1–18,

Today’s readings call us to discernment, fidelity, and joy in the truth. In a world filled with competing voices and shifting values, God invites us to remain rooted in Christ—the eternal Word made flesh.

1. Standing Firm in the Truth — 1 John 2:18–21

Saint John speaks with urgency:

“Children, it is the last hour.”

This is not meant to provoke fear, but spiritual alertness. John warns about antichrists—those who distort the truth about Christ and lead others astray. These are not only figures of the future, but realities present whenever Christ is denied in word or in life.

Yet John reassures believers:

“You have been anointed by the Holy One.”

Through Baptism and the gift of the Holy Spirit, we are empowered to recognize truth from error. Faith is not blind—it is enlightened by grace. Remaining in the truth requires humility, prayer, and constant communion with Christ.

2. Creation Rejoices in the Lord — Psalm 96

The psalm invites the whole world to celebrate:

“Sing to the Lord a new song…
The Lord comes to judge the earth.”

God’s judgment is not a threat, but good news. He comes to set things right—with justice, mercy, and faithfulness. When we live in truth, we join creation’s song of joy, confident that God’s reign brings restoration and peace.

3. The Word Who Became Flesh — John 1:1–18

The Prologue of John’s Gospel lifts our eyes to the heart of our faith:

“In the beginning was the Word… and the Word was God.”

Jesus is not merely a teacher or prophet—He is God Himself, entering human history. The eternal Word became flesh, choosing to dwell among us, sharing our struggles, illuminating our darkness.

“To all who received Him… He gave power to become children of God.”

In Christ, we are not spectators but participants in divine life. Grace upon grace flows from His fullness, inviting us to live as sons and daughters of the light.

Living the Word Today

These readings challenge us to ask:

  • Am I rooted in Christ’s truth, or swayed by false voices?

  • Do my choices reflect the light of Christ?

  • Do I receive Jesus daily as the Word made flesh?

In a world where truth is often blurred, the Gospel calls us to remain in Christ, to live by His light, and to proclaim Him—not only with words, but with our lives.

Closing Prayer

Eternal Word of the Father,
You have come to dwell among us.
Keep us faithful to the truth You reveal.
Guard our hearts against deception,
and strengthen us to live as children of the light.
May our lives sing of Your glory, now and forever.
Amen.
