In the first reading from Second Epistle to Timothy, Saint Paul writes to his beloved disciple Timothy with affection and encouragement. He urges Timothy to "fan into flame" the gift that God has bestowed upon him. Paul reminds him that God does not give a spirit of fear, but a spirit of power, love, and self-discipline.
