1. Chosen and Blessed in Christ

In his letter to the Ephesians, Saint Paul reminds us of the wonderful blessings God has given us through Jesus Christ. Before the foundation of the world, God chose us in Christ to be holy and blameless before Him.

This reveals the depth of God's love. Our relationship with Him begins with His grace, not with our achievements or our ability to make ourselves perfect. Through Jesus, we receive redemption, the forgiveness of our sins, and the invitation to become children of God.

God has a purpose for our lives. He calls us to live in holiness, to reflect His love, and to participate in His plan of bringing all things together under Christ.

Sometimes, we allow our past mistakes, failures, or the opinions of others to define us. We forget that our deepest identity is found in God's love. Our sins must be acknowledged and repented of, but they do not have to be the final chapter of our story.

Through Christ, we can receive forgiveness, begin again, and grow into the people God calls us to be.

You are invited to live as someone who has been loved, redeemed, and called to holiness through Jesus Christ.

2. Sing a New Song to the Lord

Psalm 98 calls us to sing a new song to the Lord because He has done wonderful things. His saving power and faithfulness have been revealed to His people.

The psalm reminds us that gratitude should be at the centre of our relationship with God. We do not praise Him only when everything is going well. We praise Him because He is faithful, even when we are still waiting for answers to our prayers.

Perhaps you are facing difficulties in your family, work, finances, health, or spiritual life. You may not yet understand what God is doing, but you can still remember His goodness and trust in His promises.

A new song does not necessarily mean a new melody. It can mean a renewed heart—a heart that chooses gratitude instead of constant complaining, hope instead of despair, and trust instead of fear.

Let your life become a song of praise through your words, your decisions, and the love you show to others.

3.  The Danger of Rejecting God's Truth

In Luke 11:47–54, Jesus strongly rebukes the scholars of the law for building monuments to the prophets whom their ancestors killed, while failing to listen to God's message in their own time.

Their actions reveal a serious contradiction: they honour the prophets outwardly, yet resist the truth those prophets proclaimed.

Jesus also condemns them for taking away the key of knowledge. Instead of helping people understand God's will and draw closer to Him, they have placed obstacles in their way.

This Gospel challenges us to examine our own hearts.

It is possible to honour holy people, celebrate religious traditions, quote Scripture, and participate in church activities while resisting the very truth God wants us to accept.

Sometimes, we welcome God's Word when it comforts us but reject it when it challenges our pride, exposes our wrongdoing, or calls us to forgive someone.

We may also discourage others through harsh judgment, hypocrisy, or the misuse of authority. Rather than helping people encounter God, we can make their journey of faith more difficult.

Jesus calls us to something deeper than outward religion. He calls us to humility, repentance, and a sincere willingness to obey God's truth.

The Gospel tells us that after Jesus spoke, His opponents became hostile and began questioning Him closely, hoping to catch Him in His words. Their response warns us against becoming so attached to our own opinions that we refuse to learn, repent, or change.

A heart that truly seeks God does not fear the truth; it welcomes the truth, even when the truth calls for conversion.

4. Jesus Christ: The Way, the Truth, and the Life

The Gospel acclamation from John 14:6 reminds us of Jesus' declaration that He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life.

Jesus is not merely a teacher who points us toward God. He is the Son who brings us into communion with the Father.

When we follow Him, we learn the way of love, humility, forgiveness, and obedience. When we listen to His truth, we allow His Word to correct our false assumptions and transform our hearts. When we remain in Him, we receive the life of grace that sustains us on our journey toward eternal life.

We cannot sincerely claim to follow Christ while deliberately rejecting His teachings whenever they become inconvenient.

Let us therefore ask ourselves: Am I following Jesus as He truly is, or am I following only the parts of His message that agree with what I already want?

5. What Is God Saying to Us Today?

Today's readings invite us to respond to God's love with a sincere and transformed life.

  • Remember who you are in Christ. You are invited to receive God's grace and grow in holiness.

  • Live with gratitude. Praise God not only for what He gives but also for His constant faithfulness.

  • Welcome correction. When Scripture reveals something that needs to change in your life, respond with humility.

  • Do not obstruct others. Let your words, actions, and leadership help people draw closer to God.

  • Choose truth over pride. Admit your mistakes, seek forgiveness, and remain willing to learn.

  • Follow Jesus faithfully. Let Him guide your choices, relationships, and understanding of God's will.

God's grace is a gift, but it also invites a response. Having received His love, we are called to become witnesses of that love in the world.

6. Prayer

Heavenly Father, I thank You for choosing me in Christ and blessing me with Your grace. Thank You for the gift of redemption, the forgiveness of sins, and the hope of eternal life.

Lord Jesus, You are the Way, the Truth, and the Life. Help me to follow You faithfully and to welcome Your Word, even when it challenges me to change.

Forgive me for the times I have been proud, stubborn, or unwilling to acknowledge my faults. Remove every form of hypocrisy from my heart. Give me the humility to repent, the courage to speak the truth with love, and the wisdom to help others draw closer to You.

Holy Spirit, renew my heart. Teach me to live with gratitude, walk in holiness, and become a faithful witness to God's goodness.

May my life sing a new song of praise to You, not only through my lips but through my actions, my choices, and my love for others.

May I never become an obstacle to another person's faith, but a humble instrument of Your truth and mercy.

Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

7. Personal Reflection Question

Am I willing to accept God's truth when it challenges my pride, or do I resist His Word when it asks me to change?

Spend a few moments in prayer today. Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal one area of your life where you need to become more humble, truthful, or obedient to Christ.

Today's Reminder

You have been chosen and redeemed in Christ. Do not settle for outward religion while resisting inward transformation. Follow Jesus, welcome His truth, and let your life become a song of praise to God.
