Guarding Your Tongue with Wisdom: A Devotion on Speaking Life.

Guarding Your Tongue with Wisdom: A Devotion on Speaking Life.

Words are powerful. They have the ability to **build up** or **tear down**, to **heal** or **wound**.

As believers, we are called to use our words with **wisdom**, choosing to speak life, truth, and encouragement, even when emotions run high.

This devotion will help you lean on God’s wisdom to guard your tongue and honor Him with the words you speak every day.

Today’s Scripture.

**Proverbs 18:21 (NIV):**

"The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit."_

Devotional Thought.

It’s easy to speak quickly when we’re frustrated, hurt, or impatient.

But **wisdom** teaches us to pause, pray, and respond with purpose rather than react out of emotion.

Our words carry weight. They shape atmospheres, influence hearts, and reflect the condition of our own spirit.

When we guard our tongues, we aren’t just trying to "be nice"—we're protecting relationships, sowing seeds of peace, and living out God’s character.

**Speaking with wisdom** means:

- Choosing *gentleness* over harshness.

- Speaking *truth* with *love*.

- Offering *encouragement* even when it’s easier to criticize.

Wisdom reminds us: **Words are seeds**. What you plant today, you (and others) will harvest tomorrow.

When you ask God to guide your words, He gives you the strength to speak life—even in hard moments.

Prayer for Wise and Loving Speech.

Lord, set a guard over my mouth and watch over my lips. Teach me to speak with wisdom, kindness, and truth. Help me to respond with grace, not react in anger. Let my words build up, not tear down. Use my tongue to be a vessel of Your peace, encouragement, and love. In Jesus’ name, Amen.*
