St. Robert Bellarmine: A Shepherd Rooted in Truth, Faith, and Humility


Saint Robert Bellarmine, Bishop and Doctor of the Church, was one of the great theologians, teachers, and defenders of the Catholic faith during a significant period of challenge and renewal in the Church. Born in Tuscany in 1542, he entered the Society of Jesus and dedicated his life to prayer, study, teaching, preaching, and pastoral service.

Robert possessed a brilliant mind, but he understood that knowledge was not an end in itself. His learning was meant to serve God and His people. He became a respected teacher of theology and Scripture and later served as a bishop and cardinal.
