Walking in the Light: Courage Born from God’s Love

Readings:
First Reading - Acts 5:17-26
Responsorial Psalm- Psalm 34:2-9
Alleluia - John 3:16
Gospel Reading - John 3:16-21

The readings from Acts 5:17–26; Psalm 34; and John 3:16–21 draw us into the heart of the Gospel: God’s love is the foundation of our salvation, and it calls us to live boldly in His light.

At the center of this message is the powerful declaration in the Gospel of Gospel of John:

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him might not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16)

This is the essence of our faith—a love so deep, so sacrificial, and so transformative. God does not condemn us; He desires to save us. Yet, this love requires a response. Jesus continues by explaining that light has come into the world, but some choose darkness over light because their deeds are evil.

To live in the light means to embrace truth, turn away from sin, and allow God’s grace to shape our lives.

In Acts of the Apostles (5:17–26), we see what happens when people truly live in that light. The apostles are arrested out of jealousy and thrown into prison. But during the night, an angel of the Lord frees them and gives a clear instruction:

“Go and stand in the temple and speak to the people all the words of this life.”

What is remarkable is their response—they do not hide or run away. Instead, they return to the temple at dawn and continue preaching boldly.

This is courage rooted in love.

When we truly understand that we are loved by God, fear loses its power. The apostles were not acting recklessly—they were acting faithfully. They knew that the message of salvation was too important to be silenced.

Psalm 34 beautifully expresses the peace and confidence that come from trusting in God:

“Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in Him.”

This is an invitation, not just to know about God, but to experience His goodness personally. When we do, our lives naturally reflect His light.

Reflection for Your Life

Do you truly believe in God’s love for you, or do you struggle to accept it?

Are there areas in your life where you are choosing darkness instead of light?

What fears are holding you back from living boldly for Christ?

Faith in Action

Spend time meditating on God’s love—especially in John 3:16

Choose honesty, integrity, and truth in your daily actions

Share the message of hope with someone, even if it feels uncomfortable

God’s love is not meant to be hidden—it is meant to shine through you.

When you walk in the light, you become a witness of His grace. When you trust in His love, you find the courage to stand firm, no matter the opposition.

So today, step out of darkness, embrace the light, and live boldly—

because you are deeply loved by God.
