Scattered but Not Broken: Finding Life in Christ
Scattered but Not Broken: Finding Life in Christ
First Reading - Acts of the Apostles 8:1-8
Responsorial Psalm- Psalm 66:1-3. 4-7
Alleluia - John 6:40
Gospel Reading - John 6:35-40
The readings from Acts 8:1–8; Psalm 66; and John 6:35–40 reveal a powerful truth: what looks like disruption in our lives can become the very means through which God brings greater purpose and life.
In the Gospel of Gospel of John (6:35–40), Jesus proclaims with clarity and assurance:
“I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me will never hunger, and whoever believes in me will never thirst.”
He goes further to reveal the heart of God’s will—that everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him may have eternal life, and that none who come to Him will be lost.
This is a promise of security, provision, and eternal hope. No matter what we face, Christ remains our source of life, and in Him, we are never abandoned.
In Acts of the Apostles (8:1–8), we witness a moment that seems tragic at first glance. After the persecution following the death of Saint Stephen, the believers are scattered across different regions.
It appears as though the early Church is being torn apart.
But something remarkable happens—wherever they go, they preach the Word.
Instead of silencing them, persecution spreads the message even further. Philip the Evangelist goes to Samaria, proclaiming Christ, healing the sick, and bringing joy to the city.
What looked like loss becomes mission.
What felt like displacement becomes opportunity.
This reminds us that God can use even our most difficult moments for His greater purpose. Sometimes, being “scattered” is part of being sent.
Psalm 66 echoes this with joyful praise:
“Let all the earth cry out to God with joy… see the works of the Lord.”
Even in the midst of trials, we are invited to recognize God’s hand at work. His power transforms situations, turning sorrow into joy and confusion into clarity.
Reflection for Your Life
Are there areas in your life where you feel scattered, uncertain, or displaced?
Can you trust that God is still working, even in those moments?
Are you sharing your faith wherever you find yourself?
Faith in Action
Trust God’s plan, even when life does not go as expected
Look for opportunities to share hope in your current environment
Stay rooted in Christ, your source of strength and life
Being scattered does not mean being abandoned.
In Christ, you are held, guided, and sent with purpose. What feels like disruption may be God’s way of expanding your impact.
So today, remain rooted in Him, go where He leads, and rejoice—
because in Christ, you have life that nothing can take away.
