Lifted Up in Love: Living the New Life in Christ
Lifted Up in Love: Living the New Life in Christ
First Reading - Acts 4:32-37
Responsorial Psalm- Psalm 93:1-5
Alleluia - John 3:15
Gospel Reading - John 3:7-15
The readings from Acts 4:32–37; Psalm 93; and John 3:7–15 reveal a powerful connection between new life in the Spirit and a life expressed in love, unity, and generosity.
In the Gospel of Gospel of John (3:7–15), Jesus continues His conversation with Nicodemus, urging him not to be surprised by the call to be “born from above.” This new birth is mysterious, like the wind—you cannot see it, but you can see its effects.
Then Jesus points to a striking image from the Old Testament: just as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so must the Son of Man be lifted up, so that whoever believes in Him may have eternal life.
Here, we encounter the heart of our faith—salvation comes through looking to Christ, lifted up on the Cross, and believing in Him. This is not just belief in words, but trust that transforms how we live.
When we truly receive this new life, it becomes visible.
In Acts of the Apostles (4:32–37), we see a beautiful picture of a community transformed by faith. The believers are described as being “of one heart and soul.” They share everything they have, ensuring that no one among them is in need.
This is not forced generosity—it is the natural fruit of hearts renewed by the Spirit.
Among them is Barnabas, who sells his field and lays the proceeds at the apostles’ feet. His act reflects a deeper truth: when Christ becomes our treasure, we loosen our grip on material things.
This challenges us today. In a world often driven by self-interest, the Christian life calls us to something higher—a life of unity, compassion, and self-giving love.
Psalm 93 reminds us of the foundation of this life:
“The Lord is king; He is robed in majesty… Your decrees are trustworthy indeed.”
God reigns with power and stability. His truth stands firm. Because He is unchanging, we can confidently build our lives on Him.
Reflection for Your Life
Have you truly experienced the new birth that Jesus speaks about, or are you still holding on to old ways?
Does your faith show itself in love, generosity, and unity with others?
What are you holding onto that God may be asking you to surrender?
Faith in Action
Look to Christ daily—through prayer, Scripture, and trust in His saving power
Practice generosity, even in small ways, toward those in need
Seek unity in your family, community, and church
A life born of the Spirit is not hidden—it is seen in how we love and give.
When we fix our eyes on Christ, lifted up for our salvation, our hearts are changed. And when our hearts are changed, our lives begin to reflect His love.
So today, believe deeply, love generously, and live fully—
because in Christ, you have been given new life.
