Blessed Isidore Bakanja, Martyr: Faithful Witness to Christ Through Suffering and Forgiveness, Blessed Isidore Bakanja is a powerful witness to courageous faith, patient endurance, and forgiveness in the face of suffering. Born in what is now the Democratic Republic of the Congo around 1887, Isidore embraced the Catholic faith as a young man. He became a devoted Christian and a member of the Carmelite confraternity, carrying the Brown Scapular as a visible sign of his love for the Blessed Virgin Mary. Isidore worked as a laborer and remained committed to his faith despite the difficult conditions under which he lived and worked. He openly shared the Christian faith with others and encouraged those around him to know and love Christ.
