Ordained a priest, Cajetan became known for his deep prayer life, compassion for the poor, and desire to renew the spiritual life of the Church. At a time when many people suffered from poverty and the Church needed reform, Saint Cajetan responded with faith and action. Together with other devoted priests, he founded the Theatine Order, a community dedicated to living the Gospel with simplicity, holiness, and complete dependence on God's providence.
