Unstoppable Faith: When You Cannot Keep Silent
Unstoppable Faith: When You Cannot Keep Silent
First Reading - Acts of the Apostles 4:13-21
Responsorial Psalm- Psalm 118: 1.14-21
Alleluia - Psalm 118:24
Gospel Reading - Mark 16:9-15
The readings from Acts 4:13–21; Psalm 118; and Mark 16:9–15 bring us face to face with a bold and challenging truth: a real encounter with Christ cannot be hidden—it must be shared.
In the Gospel of Gospel of Mark (16:9–15), the risen Jesus appears first to Mary Magdalene. She goes to tell the disciples, but they do not believe her. Later, Jesus appears to others, yet still, doubt lingers among them.
Finally, Jesus Himself appears and gently rebukes their unbelief. Then He gives a clear command:
“Go into the whole world and proclaim the Gospel to every creature.”
This mission is not reserved for a select few—it is the calling of every believer. Faith is not meant to remain private or hidden; it is meant to be lived and proclaimed.
In Acts of the Apostles (4:13–21), we see Saint Peter the Apostle and Saint John the Apostle standing before authorities who command them to stop speaking about Jesus. But their response is bold and unwavering:
“We cannot but speak of what we have seen and heard.”
What a powerful declaration.
These were once ordinary men, uneducated and fearful. Yet now, they stand with courage that cannot be shaken. Why? Because they had encountered the risen Christ, and that experience changed everything.
Their faith was no longer theoretical—it was personal, real, and undeniable.
Psalm 118 beautifully complements this courage:
“The Lord is my strength and my might; He has become my salvation.”
This reminds us that boldness does not come from our own ability, but from trusting in God’s power and presence. When the Lord is our strength, fear loses its hold.
And once again, the joyful proclamation resounds:
“This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.”
Even in the face of opposition, rejection, or doubt, we rejoice—because Christ is alive, and His truth cannot be silenced.
Reflection for Your Life
Is your faith something you keep private, or do you share it boldly?
What fears or pressures are holding you back from speaking about Christ?
Can people recognize your faith through your words and actions?
Faith in Action
Share a message of hope or a testimony with someone today
Stand firm in your beliefs, even when it is uncomfortable
Ask God for courage to live and speak your faith boldly
If you have truly encountered Christ, silence is no longer an option.
Like Peter and John, you may face challenges—but your story, your faith, and your voice matter.
So today, be bold. Speak truth. Live your faith without fear.
And rejoice—because this is the day the Lord has made.
