What Do I Need to Release to Walk in Peace and Wellness?
Introduction
We all want peace. We all want wellness—not just physical health, but wholeness. A settled heart. A calm mind. A body that feels safe and cared for. A soul that isn’t weighed down.
But peace and wellness don’t come from holding on.
They come from knowing when—and what—to let go.
Lately, I’ve been asking myself:
What do I need to release to walk in peace and wellness?
It’s a question that reaches deep, because so much of our stress, anxiety, and imbalance comes from clinging to things we were never meant to carry.
The Burden of Holding On
We hold on to a lot, don’t we?
-
The pressure to perform
-
Guilt from the past
-
Expectations that no longer fit
-
People-pleasing habits
-
Worry about the future
-
Control over outcomes
-
Bitterness we thought we buried
-
The “I can do it all” mindset
We carry these things into our daily lives, our relationships, our habits—and they weigh us down. They make peace feel out of reach and wellness feel like a fantasy. But God never designed us to carry all of this.
“Come to Me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”
– Matthew 11:28 (NIV)
Peace starts with release.
What Is God Asking You to Let Go Of?
This question isn’t always easy to answer, but it’s necessary. Sometimes, it’s not about doing more—it’s about releasing more.
Here are a few areas to reflect on:
1. Emotional Baggage
That past hurt you keep replaying? The shame you secretly carry? God is ready to take that from you. Forgiveness—both given and received—is a major key to wellness.
2. Toxic Mindsets
Believing you’re not enough. Thinking your worth is tied to your productivity. Assuming things won’t get better. These lies keep you stuck. God’s truth brings freedom.
3. Unrealistic Expectations
Maybe it's the image of perfection you’re chasing. Or trying to be everything for everyone. Peace comes when we stop striving and start surrendering.
4. Overcommitment
Busyness isn’t always godliness. Sometimes, peace requires pruning your schedule and making room for rest, reflection, and true self-care.
5. Fear
Fear of lack. Fear of failure. Fear of the unknown. All of it can be placed at the feet of Jesus. Fear fades when trust grows.
Peace Isn’t a Destination—It’s a Decision
Wellness begins when we choose to let go so that we can receive. God's peace is already available. But it often requires that we make space—by releasing the things that block it.
“You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in You, all whose thoughts are fixed on You.”
– Isaiah 26:3 (NLT)
It’s not about doing everything right—it’s about aligning your heart with the One who holds your life.
Conclusion:
So today, ask yourself:
What am I holding on to that’s costing me my peace?
What do I need to release so I can walk in wellness—mentally, emotionally, spiritually, and even physically?
God invites you to live lighter. To live freer. To walk in wholeness.
But that walk begins with a release.
Let go. Breathe deep. And step forward—lighter, clearer, and anchored in peace.
