Devotional: Love That Shows

My Daily Devotional: Love That Shows.

"Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God." (1 John 4:7)

In a world that often measures love by feelings, romantic gestures, or even personal gain, God's Word calls us to a higher, more profound understanding: charity. This isn't just about giving to the poor, though that's a beautiful expression of it. It's about a selfless, active, benevolent love that consistently seeks the good of others, both within our closest relationships and in the wider world. It's love that truly shows.

Think about what God's love for us looks like. It wasn't just a feeling; it was an action. "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son..." (John 3:16). His love was demonstrated, shown, poured out. And as His children, we are called to reflect that same character.

The Apostle Paul reminds us that "love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres." (1 Corinthians 13:4-7). This is the blueprint for a love that shows.

Sometimes, the most Christlike love we can give is found in showing up, staying kind, or choosing peace over pride. As we reflect God's love, we become part of His healing work in the world—one act of charity at a time.

As we go about our week, let's consciously choose to live out this charitable love. Let it be evident in our homes, our workplaces, our churches, and our communities. Let our lives be a testament to God's transformative love, not just in word, but powerfully, unmistakably, in show.

Today, let’s challenge ourselves: Where can I show love more intentionally? Who needs my patience, my forgiveness, my presence?

Let love be the legacy you leave in every room you enter.

Ask yourself today:

  • Have I been patient when others tested me?

  • Have I listened without judgment?

  • Have I extended help without expecting anything in return?

  • Have I forgiven freely as Christ has forgiven me?

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, thank You for loving us first and for demonstrating perfect love through Christ. Help us to receive Your love so deeply that it overflows into every relationship and every interaction. Give us eyes to see the needs around us and hearts willing to act with selfless charity. May our lives truly be love that shows, for Your glory. Amen.

Affirmation:
I am a vessel of God’s love. I choose to show up in love, give in love, and serve in love. My relationships and community are stronger because I practice charity with grace and purpose.

Altar Call:

A Call to Experience God’s Love Personally.

Friend, as you’ve always heard about love in action — the kind of love that gives, serves, and forgives — maybe something stirred in your heart. Maybe you’ve longed for that kind of love in your life: a love that doesn’t fail, doesn’t abandon, and doesn’t ask you to earn it. I want you to know today — that love is real, and it’s found in Jesus Christ.

In a world that often feels cold, selfish, and empty, God offers you something different — Himself. He sent His Son, Jesus, not to judge you, but to rescue you. Not because you’re perfect, but because you’re loved. And He proved it by dying for your sins and rising again, so you could have new life, peace, and eternal hope.

You don’t need to fix yourself first. You don’t need to earn His love. You just need to say yes.

“But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” – Romans 5:8

Today, Jesus is knocking on the door of your heart. He’s offering you more than religion — He’s offering a relationship. A new beginning. A clean slate. A chance to not only receive His love, but to become someone who lives it and reflects it in this world.

If you're ready to make that decision — to invite Jesus into your life — pray this simple prayer with sincerity:

Salvation Prayer

“Lord Jesus,

I acknowledge that I need You.

I have sinned, and I can’t save myself.

But I believe You died for me and rose again.

Today, I open my heart and ask You to come in.

Forgive me, change me, and make me new.

From this day forward, I choose to follow You.

Thank You for loving me first.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.”

If you prayed that prayer, welcome to the family of God! Heaven rejoices over your decision, and so do we. Look for a Believing Church around you to join. Thank you.
